Opening Doors To Leadership L. Patrick Deering Scholarship Fund Chairman of the Board Leadership Baltimore County 2002-2009
Leadership Baltimore County selects 40 individuals each year to participate in our leadership program. The tuition often is beyond the financial reach of some smaller businesses and non-profit organizations. In honor of the late L. Patrick Deering, a Scholarship Fund was created in his name to ensure that those qualified applicants who otherwise could not participate in Leadership Baltimore County, are now able to receive the benefits of the Leadership program.
Every year, Mr. Deering spoke at the Leadership Opening Retreat. His message was always the same…”Use the information you will receive over the next 10 months during your Leadership experience to make a difference in the lives of people who have less than you do. Non-profits need your expertise on their boards, they need your time for hands-on volunteering, and they need you and your contacts to help raise money for their organizations.”
The campaign’s goal is to create an endowed scholarship fund which will guarantee the availability of scholarship funds in perpetuity, separate from Leadership Baltimore County’s operating budget.
